Marshall's Acting Class
The working actor in NYC spends 99% of their time thinking about auditions. But we didn’t become actors because we fell in love with auditioning, rather because we fell in love with acting: rehearsing, discovering, sculpting character and story in a room full of like-minded artists. It’s the heart of our craft. But if it goes un-nurtured, it withers, along with our passion, and we wake up one day wondering why we’re in this crazy hard business in the first place.
Solution: we’ve created a workspace for actors to practice and refine real rehearsal and performance skills with a working director. Every week will start with a group warm up, then move to practical work, each week a little different – staging a scene, physicality, improv, character building, text analysis – practical skills beyond audition technique. The goal is to make you a more present, impassioned actor, which will make you a better auditioner and, hopefully, human.
The class is ongoing – every Tuesday from 7pm – 10pm. Feel free to come to one, once a week, or once a month, but there are only ten students per class. Once a class has filled, it is no longer available.
